Our Dad, Dr. Antonio P. Ricaforte, passed away this past Friday, December 11, 2020. Not from Covid, but because he lived such a full life that he finally wore his body out. And...... I think he missed his girl..... Jean. We know Mom & Dad are dancing again to Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night", with a live performance from Frank himself. And he is playing Canasta with Aunt Harriet, Grandma Sis, Mom and Pop - and he gets to meet our mother's father Herbert for the first time. We would love to listen in on that conversation. And he gets to see his mom and dad, and his siblings again. And Mom & Dad finally get to take that Cross-Country RV Trip together now.
So let's drink to the "Man, the Myth, the Legend" that was Tony Ricaforte. Not because he had amassed some great personal fortune, nor a real estate empire, nor was he a titan of the medical field. No, he is the "Man, the Myth, the Legend" because he is the most humble man you ever met; he is the guy .....you just wanted to put in your pocket and take home with you; he is the doctor who did not want anyone to know he was a doctor, so he would be treated just like everybody else……...but he was the Doctor people asked how he made any money, because he never billed anyone; he practiced golf for what seemed like everyday for 40 years - inside the house and out - but never got any better than when he first started.........but it never stopped him; he has a smile that lights up the room; he is our brother, our uncle, our friend, our Doctor, our Grandpa, our Dad……………the "Man, the Myth, the Legend".
Dad passed with his children by his side......... on his own terms at home....(and also mom's terms) - she had us call the Priest to give Dad his last sacrament, and then after the Priest left and his favorite Josh Groban song was playing........he looked at the both of us...... a look that said a thousand words.........and then closed his eyes........he was sad to leave us ..............but he had to go see about his girl.
