IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne Marie
Jensen
August 29, 2025
Anne Marie Jensen, née Borhaug, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed into eternity on August 29, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on April 2, 1938, in Norway, she immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 18, where she built a life filled with love, devotion, and faith.
On April 29, 1958, Anne Marie married her lifelong love, George A. Jensen. Together, they raised three cherished children: Dinah Berntsen, Debra Russo, and Gordon Jensen. A nurturing and devoted mother, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and countless memories. Her love extended to her 11 grandchildren, 10 of whom survive her, and one who preceded her in death, as well as her 22 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Anne Marie proudly kept her Norwegian heritage throughout her life, sharing its traditions and values with her family and friends. She dedicated her life to her faith and her church, First Evangelical Free Church in Brooklyn, where she taught Sunday school for many years, nurturing the faith of countless children. Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, she welcomed all with a smile and an open door. Her compassion and faith-inspired legacy will live on through her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Tonnes and Solveig; her sister Janet Testad (Sven-Egil); and her grandson Tyler Berntsen. She is survived by her husband, George A. Jensen; her children, Dinah Berntsen and her husband Torry, Debra Russo and her husband Daniel, and Gordon Jensen and his wife Nancy; her sister Solfrid (Bjarne); her brothers Torbjørn (Anne-Marie) and Hans (Bergit); her 10 living grandchildren; her 22 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.
A viewing will be held at 5pm followed by a memorial service to celebrate Anne Marie's life on Friday, September 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church in Brooklyn, New York (6501 – 6th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220). We will meet at 10am on Saturday, September 6, at the church prior to burial at Ocean View Cemetery in Staten Island.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the First Evangelical Free Church (Brooklyn, NY), Norwegian Christian Home Foundation (Brooklyn, NY), or Camp Spofford (Spofford, NH).
Rest in eternal peace, Anne Marie. Your love will forever shine in our hearts.
