Anita B. Melleby, 82, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017.

Dearest wife , sister, mother , and grandmother, Anita was completely devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph K. Melleby, her daughter, Dr. Paula McKeown and was the adored grandmother to Nancy Louise McKeown. Anita is also survived by her brother, Matty DePaola, as well as many nieces and nephews .

Anita was born on December 27, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to her parents Louise (nee Gramaglia ) and Marty DePaola . She graduated from PS 104 in Brooklyn and went on to become a beautician and cosmetologist. For many years, Anita worked with her father in his thriving Bay Ridge beauty salon for many years

Married in 1955 to Joseph K. Melleby, they continued to live in Bay Ridge as they raised their daughter. Anita worked at the law firm of Cullen and Dykman in downtown Brooklyn for nine years during the 1970s and 1980s. She went on to work at Merrill Lynch and the New York Stock Exchange in the 1980s before retiring. Anita was a selfless and dedicated caregiver to her family, and enjoyed excursions with her family to the Catskills and Long Island. An avid Elvis Presley and Elizabeth Taylor fan , she will always be remembered for her grace, her laughter and her impeccable style.
