IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Angelo De
Vito
November 9, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Angelo De Vito, age 78. Angelo passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025 surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Maria Matilda, children Lucille (John) and Anthony (Maura) and grandchildren Eve and William.
Angelo was an ambitious individual. As a youngster, he accepted a position as a paper delivery boy and received the title of Best Paper Boy in Brooklyn for three consecutive years. He also had a passion for the ocean and joined the United States Merchant Marines, where he quickly rose to the position of 2nd Rank Officer – Marine Engineer. Following his travels across the globe, he took on the role of Stationary Engineer at Metropolitan Hospital – Health and Hospital Corporation. Through his commitment and hard work, he earned a promotion to Senior Stationary Engineer and soon after to Chief Engineer, a role he held for more than 27 years. Following a brief retirement, he returned to the workforce at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center as an Engineer for seven additional years.
During his leisure time, Angelo enjoyed engaging in pastimes like fishing, boating, gardening, and improving his home. He was affectionately referred to as "Mr. Fix It," frequently spotted working on a variety of tasks around his house while neighbors frequently reached out for his assistance. As part of the St. Athanasius parish community, he dedicated a decade of service as the head usher for his church.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered for his quiet demeanor, kind and unwavering love for the people and places that shaped his life. May he rest in eternal peace.
