Obituary

Ana Marie Wilson (nee Martin), 63, of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Ana battled breast cancer for three years with strength and resilience. Ana is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Michael. She leaves behind her adoring children, Lisa (George) and Mikey (Masha). Ana is predeceased by her parents and in-laws. She leaves behind her brother Jorge and Jeannie Martin of Manalapan, NJ, her loving cousin Vivi Martin, and her two sons, Jayson and Justin of Melbourne, FL, and in-laws Suzanne and Randy Kessler of Howell, NJ, and Laurie Wilson-Merhi of Bronxville, NY. She will be missed by her loving nieces and nephews: her goddaughter Jackie Martin, Michelle Martin (Isaac), Christopher Kessler (Marygrace), Matthew Kessler (Kati), her godson Ryan Merhi, and Adam Merhi, and great niece and nephew Grace Ellen and Barrett. Ana is also survived by so many loving friends, including Christine Karpowich, who has been Ana's best friend since grammar school.

Born on March 17, 1962, in Cuba to the late Carmen and Octavio Martin, Ana's family left Cuba when she was five years old and relocated to Spain and then New Jersey. Ana's family finally settled in Bay Ridge, where Ana attended St. Patrick's Grammar School, but graduated from Our Lady of Angels in 1976, and went on to four years at Fort Hamilton High School. After graduating in 1980, she went on to study at St. Francis College, where she met Michael. Their love story begins on their first date, September 27, 1981, where Michael stole her heart after they saw the movie "Arthur." Shortly thereafter, Ana's parents moved to Miami, Florida but Michael knew that Ana was the one for him and when he told his parents, they moved Ana up to live with them until she got settled. Ana worked at Carol Management, found an apartment, and shortly after Michael asked for her hand in marriage at St. Patrick's Cathedral. On May 26, 1984, surrounded by their beautiful family and friends, Michael married Ana at St. Patrick's Cathedral's main altar.

In 1987, they welcomed their first child, Lisa Marie, and in 1990, Michael Thomas completed their family. Ana worked for Gymboree, at OLPH Grammar School, was a medical assistant for Dr. Shah, and an administrative assistant at Dr. Zellner's office. Ana finally found her greatest happiness in 2009 when she started working at Xaverian High School as a TA in the Ryken Program. Ana loved the children as if they were her own and worked there until her death. Even at her lowest, during chemo and radiation treatments, she wanted to go to work, to see her "kids" and interact with the whole loving Xaverian family. In her down time, Ana loved spending time with family, reading a good book, enjoying a roller coaster, listening to music, making the most creative things on her cricket, and taking care of Marigold (her fur baby) and Blue (her fur grandbaby). Ana was blessed with the most amazing green thumb which matched her most amazing heart. Ana loved her time away at the Poconos for Thanksgiving and always made Christmas Eve magical. Ana and Michael celebrated their first date every year, including this year, their wedding anniversary, they traveled the world together, but had their best memories in Williamsburg, Virginia. Ana was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, godmother, teacher, and friend, and we are so devastated that she is no longer physically with us. We pray that she has reunited with her loving parents and all those she missed in Heaven. May God hold her in the palm of His hand, and may she send us signs from Heaven until we see her again in paradise.
