IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Amanda Robertina
Reyes De Paz
December 7, 1938 – November 2, 2025
Amanda Robertina Reyes DePaz was born December 7, 1938, in Jalapa, Guatemala to Cristobal and Flora Depaz. She was the sister of Bernardo Depaz.
Mother to Gilmer, Jorge, and Flora Reyes. Grandmother to 8 grandchildren and great-grandmother to soon-to-be 16 great-grandchildren. She had 1 nephew, 2 nieces, and 6 great-nieces and nephews. Wife to Gregorio Reyes.
She was a seamstress by profession. She enjoyed music—especially marimba—dancing, playing bingo, cards, dominoes, and socializing with friends and family. Her favorite foods were refried beans with tortillas and sour cream, avocado with crackers, soups, and most importantly, her homemade hot sauce.
She came to the United States from Guatemala at the age of 25. She was a very hard worker, sometimes having multiple jobs to pay for her children to go to Catholic school.
She was the matriarch and pinnacle of our family. She was the one who kept in touch with everyone and really brought us together—not only for our love of one another but for our love for her. She truly had a firecracker sense of humor and always made us laugh.
She died peacefully in her sleep on November 2nd, 2025. She will be missed greatly. May she rest in peace.
