Alfred Urban was born in Kulm Austria in 1933.  His family were farmers who raised pigs and grew plums to make their special schnapps.
Alfred emigrated to Canada in the mid-1950s. He began learning his trade as a finish carpenter then. Not long after he married his hometown sweetheart Hilda. They decided to move to Brooklyn. Alfred continued his trade as a finished carpenter working in the Waldorf Astoria and the original World Trade Center.  He also traveled the country for his profession. Alfred brought his profession to his home where he created many beautiful cabinets, frames, miniature churches and a lighthouse which stands on 74th street.
In his spare time, Alfred loved to go bowling. He also loved his pool chair. After work he would come home and enjoy his dinner and cold beer while sitting in his pool chair. He enjoyed golf. He spent many week days with his buddies at the Dyker Golf Course.
Alfred and Hilda had two children, Waltraud and Alfred. Later on, they were blessed with five grandchildren, Christina, Jessica, Richard, Ariel, and Heidi. His retirement years were spent golfing, traveling, and enjoying Reissdorf at Schnitzel Haus.
