IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert
Fratangelo
July 8, 1935 – August 7, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Albert Fratangelo on August 7, 2025, at the age of 90. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, son, brother, friend, and loved one to many, he touched countless lives with his kindness and warmth.
Born on July 8, 1935, Albert was a first-generation American, the proud son of parents who emigrated from Italy. Throughout his life, he wore many hats — devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, caring uncle, beloved brother, loyal friend, and successful restaurateur. He owned and operated the beloved Bay Ridge hotspot, Griswold's Pub, for many years, where he became a familiar face and built lasting relationships with members of the community.
Albert shared a lifelong love with his wife, Edith Fratangelo, to whom he was married until her passing in August 2016. Together, they raised four children: Stephen Fratangelo (Caroline), Joseph Fratangelo, Esther McDaid (Bill), and Anna Mullen (David). He was the proud grandfather of five: Christina Fratangelo, Stephanie Fratangelo, David Mullen, Emily Mullen, and Edith Mullen, and a loving uncle to his cherished nieces and nephews.
Active and full of life, Albert ran marathons, enjoyed traveling, spent time at the beach, and cherished moments with his family. His family was truly the center of his world, and he found his greatest joy in their love and togetherness. Known for his quick wit and easy smile, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome — whether at his restaurant or around the family table. He was deeply devoted to serving his country, his family, and his community.
Albert leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife, parents, siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many other dear family members and friends who passed before him.
